alterations in examination arrangements proposed.

Subsidies to private vernacular schools

should not be curtailed.

Various financial and clerical responsibili-

ties of Heads of Schools should be transferred to

the Education Office.

Proportion of teaching periods allotted

to teachers is in many cases too small.

Queen's College should be closed.

Victoria British School should be closed.

The Vernacular Middle School is a luxury

and should be handed over to private interests.

The posts of 2 Medical officers of Schools

and 3 School Nurses should be abolished.

The European teaching staff should take

their leave when it is due, irrespective of the

time of year, and not all go home in the spring.

The Hong Kong Government should not

finance the training of teachers in England in

preparation for service in the Colony.

The Commission apparently recommend that study leave should notin future be granted to

teachers.

The rule that a Mistress refunds the whole

of her passage money on resigning before completion

of probationary period should be rigidly enforced.

Appointments to Headships and Senior

teaching posts should be by merit and not by

seniority.
